Tomorrow, September 22, 2025, is likely to be the last day of the Google August 2025 spam upgrade. That’s what Google’s John Mueller stated in a lengthy remark on a LinkedIn article. “Just between us,” he wrote today, “we’ll probably mark it complete tomorrow.”
This would make the Google August 2025 spam upgrade a 27-day rollout.
Reminder: August 26, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM ET, marked the beginning of the August 2025 spam update. According to Google, the deployment will take a few weeks and will be available in all languages and globally. A day or two later (August 27th), we witnessed the update hit hard and quick. It remained hot for a while before cooling off for a few days. The spam update then ramped up once more around September 9, 2025.
Naturally, many SEOs find it difficult to gauge the changes because third-party Google tracking tools are a muddle and Google has dropped the num option. It is even more difficult to track when the Search Console data is also deactivated.
